When I went to college I didn't know exactly what I wanted to be. But I knew that I loved helping people learn new things, and I loved being outdoors. I chose to go to UW Stevens Point because of their amazing environmental program. Flipping through the course catalog one day, I stumbled upon a section on environmental education. I instantly knew this was the perfect way to combine two things I was very passionate about: teaching and nature.
After getting my degree in Environmental Education and Interpretation (say that 10 times fast) I spent my career teaching school aged children about the natural world. Teaching about plants, animals, soil, water, adaptations, habitats, ecosystems... Opening their eyes to some of the current issues like water pollution and habitat destruction... Brainstorming simple changes they could make in their everyday live; ways to be a part of the solution instead of being part of the problem. Sounds amazing, right? It absolutely was. Best. Job. Ever. But we ebb and flow through different seasons of our lives, and about 7 years ago I put all that on hold to start a family. Now, being a mom is the best job ever.
About 3 years ago, I started using essential oils from a company called Young Living. I chose Young Living because of their deep respect for the environment, their sustainable farming practices, their relentless dedication to providing high quality therapeutic essential oils, their passion for creating products that support wellness, and their unwavering loyalty to each and every person who used their product.
Over the past three years essential oils have become a part of my every day life. I feel better knowing that the products I use are gentle and safe for everyone who enters my home. I love knowing that Young Living has such amazing oils, that every time I use a product, I am receiving the therapeutic properties of the oils and supporting every cell in my body. Using these powerful products is a way to take a more active roll in your health and wellness, and work toward a life where you are at your optimal wellness. A life where your mental, spiritual, and physical self are in balance. After using these products and experiencing the benefits first hand, I decided I just had to share this awesomeness with the my friends, family, and the people in my community. So I decided to start teaching adult education classes, with a focus on essential oils. I really truly hope you will come to an in person class, jump on Instagram for some tips and recipes, or head on over to Open Learning and watch an online class. There's so much amazingness waiting for you. All you have to do is give it a try.
